Clearly, when this boss moved out of town, he was mentally out at sea as well. How could you hire someone and not remember to instruct a colleague on your team to show them the ropes? Unfortunately, that's only where the negligence started.
The fact that this boss never checked his Spam folder and thus failed to notice the numerous emails sent by the new hire with questions and concerns about what he was supposed to be doing all day says so much about this so-called “leader's” managerial skills. What's more, the employee managed to collect wages for over half a year before his boss discovered what was happening.
During that time, he even snagged a second position elsewhere, so he was really working one job while earning two salaries. That, my friends, is what you call a legend in the workplace.
